Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Red Creek COA

Red Creek is a medium priority water. Native populations should continue to be monitored through surveys and inventory and removing non-natives. Red Creek could potentially be considered for introduction of northern Mexican gartersnakes, but there are likely numerous other higher priority sites. A population of Gila topminnow stocked in 1989 did not persist. Smallmouth bass were last documented in 1998. It is likely that some fish move upstream from the Verde River during periods of high flow, but do not persist when the lower portions of the creek become dry.
