Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Webber Creek COA

Webber Creek is a high priority management unit. The most recent surveys documented Sonora sucker, desert sucker, speckled dace, and rainbow trout. Roundtail chub were not documented in the most recent surveys, but may still occur in low numbers. Upstream portions of Webber Creek near Camp Geronimo support an important sport fish area based on rainbow trout, and this area also contains suitable habitat for roundtail chub stockings. Roundtail chub stockings are planned throughout the perennial portions of Webber Creek, with follow-up evaluation of success of those stockings and potential enhancement of the partial barrier located near the East Verde confluence area. Monitoring of the self-sustaining rainbow trout and native fish populations near Camp Geronimo and the East Verde River confluence area will continue.
