Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Tortilla Creek Drainage (Salt River-Apache, Canyon, and Saguaro Lake) COA

The Tortilla Creek drainage management unit will be managed for self-sustaining populations of native fish, specifically for Gila topminnow. The recovery populations at Unnamed drainage 68b, Mesquite Creek, lower Tortilla Creek and Upper Tortilla Creek will be monitored at least once every three years. Every 5-10 years, additional Gila topminnow will be stocked to maintain genetic variation. Fathead minnow will be removed from the upper Tortilla Creek site as necessary to benefit Gila topminnow.
