Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Sands Draw Wildlife Water (Whitlock Wash-Hospital Flat) COA

The Sands Draw Wildlife Water will be managed for self-sustaining refuge populations of Gila topminnow and desert pupfish. Fish will be stocked once wetland vegetation is established and BLM gives approval. After stocking, populations will be monitored annually until it is determined that they are established, after which they will be monitored about every 1-3 years. Once topminnow and pupfish are established, the site will be evaluated, and roundtail chub may be stocked. Aquatic vegetation will be controlled as necessary to maintain aquatic habitat.
