Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Rudd Creek COA

Rudd Creek will be managed for self-sustaining populations of native fishes. The primary management objectives will support the current robust populations of Little Colorado spinedace, speckled dace, and bluehead sucker present downstream of the perched fish culvert barrier on the Department-owned Sipe Wildlife Area. This management objective also supports establishing the aforementioned species upstream of the perched culvert barrier to expand populations and protect from potential non-native threats downstream. The secondary management objective is to establish a self-sustaining population of native Apache trout in the headwaters of Rudd Creek, where brook trout were formerly found prior to post-fire-related eradication. The entirety of Rudd Creek will be managed for native fish and managed against non-native undesirable species, which will be removed whenever found.
