Pinaleño Mountains Streams (Cottonwood Wash, and Stockton Wash-Gila River) COA

The Pinaleño Mountain Streams COA includes Frye Creek, Ash Creek, Deadman Creek, and Marijilda Creek and its tributaries. These streams have historically been managed for trout populations, with recent management emphasis shifting to Gila trout. The Pinaleño Mountain streams will continue to be managed as a native sport fish self-sustaining populations of Gila trout. Several fires over the last decade greatly altered the habitat, and impacted trout populations. Once habitat recovers, the streams will be stocked with Gila trout. The lower sections of the streams will be managed for self-sustaining populations of native fish. Habitat in the lower reaches will be assessed for roundtail chub, desert sucker, and speckled dace habitat suitability. Native fish species will be stocked where enough suitable habitat exists to establish self-sustaining populations.
