Pecks Lake COA

Prior to the mid-1990s, AZGFD had fish management authority of Pecks Lake under the ownership of the Phelps Dodge Mining Company. Anglers caught largemouth bass, northern pike, green sunfish, and black crappie. Phelps Dodge closed the lake to public access in the 1990s, and subsequently sold it to Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc. A diversion dam in the Verde AZGFD Verde Watershed Management Unit Description Verde Watershed-based Fisheries Management Team 2014 River at Brewer’s Tunnel accounts for the majority of water in Pecks Lake. The water flow helps bring the lake’s water quality (notably pH and dissolved oxygen) to water quality standards. Verde River water diverted into Pecks Lake then flows into Tavasci Marsh (operated by the National Park Service as part of Tuzigoot National Monument), and ultimately flowing back into the Verde River.
