Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Page Family Property COA

The Arizona Game and Fish Department (Department) acquired Page Springs Hatchery (PSH) in 1949 with the purpose of raising and stocking trout into Arizona waters. In 1954, the Department purchased Bubbling Ponds Hatchery (BPH) with the direction to increase the rearing capacity of the existing Page Springs Hatchery and to expand new warm water fish production and stockings opportunities. In the late 1990s, a small research facility, now referred to as the Aquatic Research and Conservation Center (ARCC), was developed on an approximately 1.6 acre portion of the BPH, and has undergone partial renovation. In 2014, the Department secured 31.7 acres of property, with water rights, hereafter referred to as the Page Family Property, adjacent to BPH. This property was purchased with the objective to protect native species, particularly the northern Mexican gartersnake, and to conserve native fish species via captive propagation.
