Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Nutrioso Creek middle - USFS Boundary upstream to confluence with Hulsey Creek COA

Middle Nutrioso Creek will be managed for self-sustaining native fish populations of Little Colorado spinedace, bluehead sucker, and speckled dace. There are currently populations of these native fish present upstream of Nelson reservoir. Downstream of Nelson Reservoir to the lower USFS boundary is designated critical habitat for Little Colorado spinedace, though large populations of non-native species in this section have likely extirpated the Little Colorado spinedace population. There will be a management emphasis for native fish in this unit and undesirable non-native fish will continue to be removed.
