Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

North Fork East Fork Black River (Upper Black River) COA

The North Fork East Fork Black River will be managed primarily for self-sustaining populations of native fish including speckled dace, desert sucker, Sonora sucker, loach minnow, and roundtail chub, which have been recorded in this management unit. This management unit contains critical habitat for loach minnow and New Mexico meadow jumping mouse. The North Fork contains robust populations of non-native crayfish that may have substantial impacts on native fish populations and habitat conditions. The North Fork will secondarily be managed as a quality coldwater sportfishery for wild self-sustaining brown trout. There is also populations of rainbow trout hybrids in the headwaters and Chambers Draw.
