Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Little Colorado River - Lyman Lake to Hwy 261 COA

The Little Colorado River from Lyman Lake upstream to the highway 261 bridge crossing will be managed for an assemblage of wild self-sustaining native fish populations including species that are currently present, such as Little Colorado spinedace, bluehead sucker, Little Colorado sucker, and speckled dace. This management unit is also a candidate site for roundtail chub introductions and has sufficient habitat to support roundtail chub. Though coldwater sportfisheries are managed upstream of this unit, they pose little threat to the native fish in this warmer downstream portion of the Little Colorado River.
