Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Imperial NWR - Ponds 1 - 6 COA

The Imperial National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) - Ponds 1 - 6 should be managed as native fish refugia. Six backwaters provide approximately 80 acres of habitat for endangered razorback sucker and bonytail fish species. Native fish species management, conservation, and recovery will be in partnership with the USFWS, Lower Colorado River Multi-species Conservation Program and other partners. Actions related to the management, conservation, and recovery of native fish species in the Imperial NWR Ponds will be mostly driven by existing conservation and recovery plans.
