Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Hannagan Creek (Upper Black River) COA

Hannagan Creek will be evaluated for re-establishing a population of Apache trout following a post-fire fish kill and habitat degradation. There is no barrier that protects the steam from non-natives present downstream in the Black River and Beaver Creek, though long dry sections may serve as a substantial barrier to fish movement. This, along with habitat issues, will be evaluated before stocking Apache trout. The secondary management emphasis will focus on self-sustaining populations of speckled dace and desert sucker. Some habitat improvements may be required.
