Gap Creek COA

Gap Creek originates from the Verde Rim/Black Hills Range on the Prescott National Forest. The stream length is about eight and a half miles from the headwaters to the confluence with the Verde River. The creek is a steep, narrow, high gradient stream with an elevational change from about 6,400 feet to 2,800 feet. The majority of the stream has intermittent flow, with only a short stretch of perennial water below Government Springs. The upper eight miles is within the Cedar Bench Wilderness Area. Gap Creek is a medium priority management unit that could be stocked as needed. Roundtail chub were introduced into the stream in 2012. Monitoring would help determine if this introduced population is self-sustaining.
