Deer Creek (Upper Black River) COA

Deer Creek will be managed primarily for the benefit of native aquatic species. Minimal flow at most times of the year make Deer Creek currently suitable for speckled dace. Concho Bill Spring along Deer Creek has been a re-introduction site for Chiricahua leopard frog and has high potential for establishing a self-sustaining population. Deer Creek will be managed primarily for these two species. This location is in proposed critical habitat for narrow-headed gartersnake, northern Mexican gartersnake, and designated critical habitat for loach minnow in the Black River.
