Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Colorado River and Associated Backwaters - Imperial Division COA

The Department has developed concepts under a Strategic Vision Document (AGFD 2017) to help guide warm water fisheries management in Arizona. Using these concepts, fisheries management on the Imperial Division of the Colorado River and the associated backwaters will focus on a high-quality largemouth bass and flathead catfish fishery. Native fish species management, conservation, and recovery will be in partnership with the USFWS, Lower Colorado River Multi-species Conservation Program, and other partners. Actions related to the management, conservation, and recovery of native fish species in the Imperial Division of the Colorado River will be mostly driven by existing conservation and recovery plans.
