Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Cold Springs (Black Rock Wash-Gila River) COA

The Cold Springs Ponds contain refuge populations of Gila topminnow and desert pupfish that directly contribute to species recovery. The ponds will be managed to maintain self-sustaining populations of Gila topminnow and desert pupfish. Occasional dredging to remove accumulated sediment and removal of aquatic vegetation is necessary to maintain habitat. Populations will be monitored every 1-3 years to determine species status and whether or not any augmentations are needed.
