Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Chevelon Canyon Lake COA

Chevelon Canyon Lake will be managed as a blue ribbon trophy brown trout fishery and quality rainbow trout fishery. Rainbow trout will be stocked as needed and a wild self-sustaining population of brown trout exists in the lake and upstream in Chevelon Creek to support the blue ribbon trophy management objective. A robust population of native Little Colorado sucker exists in and upstream of the reservoir. Illegal vehicle access, leading to road degradation, remains the primary threat to meeting rainbow trout fishery objectives.
