Arizona Wildlife Conservation Strategy

Aravaipa Creek (Lower Aravaipa Creek) COA

Aravaipa Creek has high conservation potential because it is one of the only locations in the state that still supports a full complement of native fish. This management unit includes critical habitat for both spikedace and loach minnow. On-going management at Aravaipa Creek consists of non-native fish removal efforts and semi-annual monitoring of the native fish population. Management actions at Aravaipa Creek will continue in concert with several external partners. Management will focus on research and nonnative aquatic species removal to benefit the conservation of the most diverse native fish community in the state.
